Seminar Name: USFCA Teach Fencing! Clinic

Dates: August 24th - 28th, 2009

Times: 9 am - 5 pm, with optional evening practice sessions

Weapons: Foil

Level/Age Group: Fencers who wish to teach beginning fencing

Cost (and what it includes): $250 for 5 day seminar, workbook, and practice sessions; add $50 for daily lunches; add $60 for testing fees & USFCA associate membership.

Housing information: Housing is not provided - there are several hotels within walking distance of the seminar location that are reasonably priced.

Seminar Description:

Knowing how to perform a skill doesn't automatically mean you can teach it. Let our instructors help you master the art of teaching beginning fencing. At the successful completion of our one-week course you may test for your USFCA Assistant Instructor certification in foil.

Topics covered:

- Fencing weapons, equipment and disciplines

- Safety and basic rules for foil fencing

- The role of fencing coaches, and coaching ethics

- How to teach basic foil fencing techniques

- Teaching group and individual lessons

- Basic record-keeping in a fencing organization or class
