US Veteran Team claims 10 medals

MOSCOW, RUS (September 28, 2009)—With a 10 medal performance, the US Fencing Veterans Team delivered a dominant performance at the 2009 World Veteran Championships, held in Moscow, Russia on September 23- 27. Walter Dragonetti provided the highlight of the tournament bringing home a gold medal in the Veteran 50 Men’s Epee. In Veteran 50 Women’s, Anne-Marie Walters won silver in Foil; Delia Turner won silver in Saber. In Veteran 60 Women’s, Eileen O’Leary won a silver medal in Saber. American’s David Jacobson and Atilio Tass took both bronze medals in Veterans Men’s 50 Saber. The other bronze medal winners included; Ray Sexton, Men’s 60 Saber, Robert Cochran, Men’s 60 Epee, Tung-Shan Chang Men’s 70 Foil, Katalin Kenessey-Gasparin, Women’s 50 Foil. The most dominant performance came in the Women’s 50 Foil, where the American women won the silver and bronze medals in addition to taking the 5th and 7th spots.
