Katharine W. Holmes is the daughter of Chris Holmes and Lorrie Marcil... She is a member of the 2009 Cadet World Championship Team... Katharine started fencing when she was 9 following her interest in reading books about the middle ages and knights in shining armor... Her favorite moment in fencing was winning Junior Women's Epee at the 2009 Junior Olympics... Katharine received a 2008 Summa Cum Laude Award from the American Classical League on her National Latin Exam... She was also a 2008 finalist for Sports Illustrated Sports Kid of the Year... In her spare time, Katharine enjoys singing, guitar, and swimming.

How did you start fencing?
I started fencing when I was nine years old because I loved reading books about the middle ages and knights in shining armor.
What has been your favorite moment while fencing?
My favorite moment was making both the Cadet and Junior Women's Epee World Championship teams in 2010.
What are your fencing goals?
I would like to finish in the top 8 at the Junior World Cup this year and in the future go to the Olympics.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you?
My favorite class is advanced placement chemistry.
